Collisions is a new quarterly publication for the Chattanooga Public Library’s 4th Floor maker space. For this first issue, “The Hand & Machine,” we created visual experiments using procedural processes with high- and low-tech machines.

From making a drawing with a vinyl cutter to scanning bitmaps of collages, we used predetermined rules to guide making procedures that brought compositions made by hand in dialogue with machine-based interpretations.

Collisions was designed with many color variations. It was printed on found office paper using a photocopier and a scrappy screenprinting kit.

Collisions was included in By the People: Designing a Better America at Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum. It is not currently for sale.
